Welcome to your new KUMON centre, the first in French-speaking Switzerland.
KUMON, what is it:
KUMON is a method of teaching mathematics and English that originated in Japan 60 years ago.
A learning method that develops self-confidence
At KUMON, children learn more than math and English! They develop self-confidence, independence and self-learning.
By making them work at their own level and by building a solid mental calculation base, children evolve serenely and with pleasure.
The feeling of success that comes from their achievements motivates them to want to learn more and gives them self-confidence.
From 3 years of age
The KUMON method is suitable for children from 3 years of age as well as adults. However, the younger the child starts, the better he or she will be able to implement what he or she has acquired with KUMON in his or her school and daily life.
Self-confidence, independence, self-learning.
Your child will quickly work above his school level and will be able to discover and understand complexities or problems that he will be able to manage thanks to the material provided and by himself!
Everyday worksheets:
The KUMON method is based on worksheets conscientiously elaborated to adapt to the level of each child.
The student comes twice a week to the centre for about 30 minutes and works 5 times a week at home with the KUMON support.
The short daily exercises allow the child to assimilate the material and to progress in stages. As a result, the child does not face an insurmountable problem and has not "forgotten" how to do it from one time to the next.
The child will then progress rapidly in mathematics or English, whether it is to learn a new subject or to fill in gaps.
And now:

My name is Laurence D'Silva and I'm from Pully. I am the happy mother of 2 daughters and I have been self-employed for many years in the field of sports and computer science before that.
I discovered KUMON by chance a few years ago and the testimonies of "KUMON children" and their parents were so eloquent that I wanted to know more.
After a visit to the headquarters in Germany, I started my training as a KUMON instructor. Since then, I have been working in my centre with the mission of developing self-confidence and self-learning in children.
My role as an instructor is to understand what touches and motivates children to want to learn, what makes them truly proud. Sometimes being fast is the most important thing, sometimes it is not making a mistake on the tasks or finding a trick in the worksheets.
By congratulating them and acknowledging their progress or change, their attitude towards the subject studied will evolve in a positive and limitless way!
Frequently Asked Questions
Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.
As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.
As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.
Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.
